Infeksi virus kecil bisa membuat registry editor tidak berfungsi, tidak aktif, terdisable. Atau, ada kalanya IT administrator Anda bisa juga nonaktifkan Registry Editor. Ketika Anda mencoba untuk membuka Registry Editor di salah satu komputer tersebut, Anda akan menerima pesan error “Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator”.

Enable Registry Editor menggunakan Group Policy Editor :

1. Klik Start. Go to Run. (pada Windows 8, Windows 7 or Vista, go to Search)
2. Ketik gpedit.msc dan tekan Enter.
3. Arahkan ke User Configuration/ Administrative Templates / System.
4. Pada work area, dobel klik "Prevent Access to registry editing tools".
5. Muncul popup window, encircle Disabled dan klik OK.
6. Biasanya, Registry Editor akan segera dapat diakses. Jika tidak, restart PC Anda.
